Around a year ago Google released its beta version of Google maps. Later that year, Google released the Google maps code to the world so that any Java savvy programmer could "mash up" the Google map with any set of addresses or locations. This mash up is from Kayak.com, a world travel site. Kayak has a "Fare Buzz" function that allows a user to input a max price and it tells you where you can go. By projecting the list of destinations on a Google map, Kayak created a Fare Buzz mash up. This mash up shows all the places you can fly from Denver for under $300.

This technology is going to have a heavy impact on the Real Estate market. You can look at applications like www.propsmart.com and www.zillow.com to see whats already there. Google themselves are geting into it. If you search for 'real estate' on google, you will notice a place to search for housing at the top of the page. That search will take you to Google's version of PropSmart.
